On Saturday March 26th we had a patient that was presented with a 1 day history of coughing and sneezing after being at a boarding facility. Dr. Bestic took immediate action and recommended a respiratory panel to find out the exact cause. The test came back positive last night for canine respiratory coronavirus (CRCoV). Although most symptoms resolve in 1-2 weeks, secondary infections can make them more ill and may require more aggressive treatments.

This canine was present at Bed and Bark Boarding and Daycare during spring break. We saw 3 more similar cases on Monday, those laboratory results are pending. However, two of the patients did not board or use our daycare facilities and were just seen for appointments for coughing and/or sneezing. Although these may be isolated cases, we would like to inform everyone that your animal may have been exposed to this virus.

Our staff is taking extra cleaning and disinfecting steps to resolve any potential risk to Bed and Bark and VCH.
