Isolation Ward

VCH believes in controlling highly contagious diseases and preventing these diseases from spreading to any other animal that walks into our hospital. For this reason, we designed a completely isolated room from the rest of the hospital to house and care for these patients until they are healthy again. A strict protocol using masks, gowns, gloves, separate access to an outside fenced in area for urinating and defecating, and the use of negative pressure ventilation to keep all contagious debris within that room is a control measure that we were unwilling to sacrifice during construction. Our isolation ward not only protects other animals from acquiring the disease, it also helps protect our staff and other owners from contacting possible zoonotic diseases (diseases that can be contagious to humans).
